Three things that are driving the whole trend

1. by 2050 one in six people in the world will be over 65, up from one in eleven in 2019. The UN also projects that about 55 countries, including China, will see their population decline between 2022 and 2050-The world is Aging faster and we would have a lesser working-class population.

2. In the last 3 decades, significant shifts have been happening in work patterns; from a life of one company - one life to for Millenials it was one career-multiple companies and for Gen Z the trend has been much more radical; multiple carriers-multiple companies. In countries like Japan, it's very much acceptable to have numerous jobs officially.

3. The productivity gap is an indicator of a country’s output capabilities, which is the ratio between the productivity of a benchmark country (such as the United States) and that of a less developed economy. There has been a serious decline in productivity in most of the rich countries for the past decade, and restoring it now has become one of the important agendas for most of the governments around the world.

The world is heading towards an interesting phenomenon of work; a job to work and moving away from a full-time job. Now industry should not stop by identifying and complaining about the pattern, it should also realize that this is going to stay for a while and time to change the employee and work composition formats and forms. Hope the industry can figure out ways and means and design the tools, policies, and practices around work people, companies, and countries that can help improve in dealing with productivity issues.
